Linked database field

A linked data record field, is a field with content from a linked data record. When integrating a linked database field you can, for example, display information from the linked customer data record in an opportunity.

The display of linked database fields is available for link types with the 1:1, 1:n, and m:1 cardinality. You can only use link fields with 1:n and m:1 cardinalities on the link side that is limited to one data record. For the 1:n cardinality, the corresponding link side is the target data record type. For the m:1 cardinality, the corresponding link side is the source data record type.

Linked data records can be added in the read or editing mode of a data record. However, in editing mode, the user can only read the contents of the linked database field, not edit them. The field can only be edited in the original data record.
