Creating an external website

An External website is a website which is embedded in SmartWe. An example of an external website is the Unternehmensverzeichnis app.

Procedure

  1. Click New app in the toolbar.

  2. This button is only available on the SmartDesign App homepage.

  3. Select External website.
  4. Enter the target address.
  5. With the Open in new tab option, you can define how the external Website is opened.

  6. If the option is activated, the website is embedded as link and opened in a new browser tab. The web App is displayed embedded in the App Designer so you can adjust it.

  7. The website is embedded if this option is deactivated. You cannot always embed any website as some do not allow embedding in third-party applications. If embedding has been prohibited, then a blank page will be displayed in SmartWe. In this case, activate the Open in new tab option.

  8. Select the Background color of the icon or, alternatively, enter a hexadecimal value for the desired color directly in the text field.
  9. If required, edit the App ID.

  10. The app ID is the internal description of the app. When creating an app, the App ID is generated and entered automatically. For the app to be identifiable, the App ID must always be unique. If you enter an ID which has already been assigned, you will receive an error message and you cannot save the settings.

  11. App IDs must always consist of two segments, for example, custom.contracts.

  12. Select an Icon for the new app.

  13. Possible file formats are .svg and .png. To ensure good quality, we recommend you use an icon in the .svg format, which is scaleable.

  14. Click Apply.
  15. The Display name window will open.
  16. Enter the name of the app in the respective language.
  17. Click Apply.
  18. The new app is inserted.
 
Tip

You have to publish your changes to make them available to all users and administrators.
