Creating dashboard apps

A Dashboard app contains several elements with which you can display information in a clear overview. An example of such an app is the Dashboard app which is included with the standard version.

In a dashboard you can, for example, display all open tasks and the appointments with the responsible users. After creating a new dashboard app, your new app will be initially empty apart from a welcome message. You can easily delete this message and then design the dashboard according to your needs.

Procedure

  1. Click New app in the toolbar.
  2. This button is only available on the SmartDesign App homepage.

  3. Select Dashboard app.
  4. Select the display of the dashboard: Full screen or Compact.
  5. Full screen indicates that the dashboard is opened over the full width of the screen.

  6. Compact indicates that the dashboard will be opened on the right-hand side in a compact view. The apps on the left side will still be visible.

  7. Select the Background color of the icon or, alternatively, enter a hexadecimal value for the desired color directly in the text field.
  8. If required, edit the App ID.
  9. The app ID is the internal description of the app. When creating an app, the App ID is generated and entered automatically. For the app to be identifiable, the App ID must always be unique. If you enter an ID which has already been assigned, you will receive an error message and you cannot save the settings.

  10. App IDs must always consist of two segments, for example, custom.contracts.

  11. Select an Icon for the new app.
  12. Possible file formats are .svg and .png. To ensure good quality, we recommend you use an icon in the .svg format, which is scaleable.

  13. Click Apply.
  14. The Display name window will open.
  15. Enter the name of the app in the respective language.
  16. Click Apply.
  17. The new app is inserted.
 
Tip

You have to publish your changes to make them available to all users and administrators.
